Do some investigating;  check their room, their car, text messages or computer for drug-related paraphernalia or references. Then, ask them in a non-judgmental manner if they are using.

We believe strongly in the benefits of random drug testing.  You can buy kits at your local drug store at the pharmacy counter. Read the pamphlet in the box for suggestions on avoiding false negatives (due to clever manipulations on the part of the teen).

      Take any talk of suicide seriously. It is wise to take your child to a hospital Emergency Room or a psychiatric hospital if you are concerned for their immediate safety. Go to the “Resources” page, for crisis hotline numbers.
